• Food and Drink at The Chequers Inn •
We are very proud of the food we offer, which is diverse and interesting. Our Head Chef, Richard Spencer, and his team are passionate about producing great food. We have held an AA Rosette each year since 2004.
Our menu changes throughout the year to reflect the seasons and our Pub Classics Menu consists of favourites such as ‘Proper’ steak and local ale pie. Being located in the Peak District we are fortunate to have some fantastic food & drink suppliers right on our doorstep which we actively use.
During the day we also offer a comprehensive sandwich, salad & small plate menu, served inside and outside.
Children are not forgotten either, with our Young Diner’s Menu a big hit with our younger guests.
We also offer a great value traditional Sunday Lunch on Sundays, served alongside our usual menus. Freshly roasted Loin of Pork (Turkey over Christmas!) or Sirloin of Beef are served with homemade Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roasties and seasonal vegetables. Perfect for either a winter’s day in front of our log fire after a long walk in the Peaks or just a good excuse for meeting up with friends and family.
Our real ales are all brewed from small independent breweries from within 15 miles of The Chequers. Beers from Peak Ales on the Chatsworth Estate, Bradfield Brewery in Sheffield & Thornbridge Brewery in Bakewell are a mainstay on our bar. Unusually, we also have a Sheffield Lager on draft from our friends at Stancill Brewery!
In addition to our local beers, we also also offer a comprehensive wine selection, both by the glass and bottle, along with a great choice of interesting gins, whiskies and cocktails.
We are open and serving food 7 days a week from 12noon.
