Christmas at The Chequers Inn

Christmas in the Peak District is a special time. Crisp winter walks direct from our doorstep, beautiful scenery & a festive atmosphere.

Why not spend a few days with us? The Chequers is a fabulous place to celebrate Christmas. Roaring log fires, local real ales, mulled wine & AA Rosette dining….perfect! And if that’s not enough, we have our yearly Brass Band Concerts, a Festive Menu for group bookings, and a gourmet New Year’s Eve dinner!

The Chequers will be decorated for Christmas from early December & we will be serving our regular menu along with festive favourities such as roast turkey & homemade Christmas pudding throughout December.

Christmas Eve is a special time at Chequers; dine from our regular menu plus some festive specials with family and friends on Christmas Eve, then home to wait for Father Christmas. Food is served 12pm – 6pm. Bookings essential.

BRASS BAND CONCERTS

Once more we are joined by Hathersage Brass Band for an evening of fun, carols, and some great food! This year our concerts are on Monday 14th December, Tuesday 15th December & Monday 21st December. Tickets are £27.50pp and this includes one of our famous Chequers steak & ale pies (veggie option available on request) served with mash, veg and gravy, followed by a mince pie and coffee.

CHRISTMAS SET MENU

A perfect way for family and friends to get together over Christmas, and also a great opportunity to take the team out of the office and celebrate Christmas!

Our pub will be beautifully decorated throughout December and our freshly prepared Festive Menu using locally-sourced produce is available for pre-booked parties of eight or more from Tuesday 1st until Wednesday 23rd December 2026 (excluding Sundays). Food served from 12 noon until 8pm.

Fewer than eight of you? Don’t worry, we will still have specials like roast turkey and Christmas pudding available alongside our regular menu!

We are located no more than 20 minutes from both Sheffield and Chesterfield, with ample parking available opposite the pub.

NEW YEAR’S EVE

We will be open for food as usual between 12pm-3pm, but why not join us in the evening for a superb five-course dinner including prosecco upon arrival. £70pp with a non-refundable deposit of £20 required upon booking. Bookings only.

Fancy staying and seeing in the New Year with us? Book our New Year’s Eve Room & Dinner Package – stay with us for the 30th and 31st of December for £495 per couple in one of our delightful rooms (superior room for £515), including £55 towards dinner on the 30th and the entirety of your five course meal on the 31st, not to mention breakfast on both mornings! (£100 per room non-refundable deposit required upon booking).
