The Peak District National Park with its breathtaking scenery offers fabulous walking, climbing and sightseeing with The Chequers being conveniently situated for exploring this wonderful area.

The magnificent Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Eyam Hall are all within 15 minutes drive from The Chequers. The bustling market towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne are also popular destinations for guests staying with us. For those in search of dramatic scenery and magnificent underground caves Castleton is a must. For a calmer pace the nearby village of Hathersage attracts walkers of all ages and the pretty church holds the grave of Little John from Robin Hood legend. Alternatively, if some retail therapy is in order then Meadowhall shopping complex is ideal for the whole family.

We have produced our own leaflet of walks, with circular walks of varying lengths starting and finishing at The Chequers. We can also recommend the Monsal Trail, with its newly opened tunnels, for cycling and walking, following the route of the former Midland Railway.
